Raising awareness and driving adoption
AARCS, Alberta’s Animal Rescue Crew Society, is a non-profit organization supported by 1,800 volunteers that sees 3,500 animals come through its doors each year. AARCS rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes animals in need.
A significant portion of the dogs rescued are puppies, but people often fail to realize the sheer number of mature dogs who struggle to find their furever home; dogs suffering from disease, starvation, injuries, abuse and neglect.
As the winter season approaches, the need to rescue animals from the cold weather becomes increasingly urgent. AARCS will rescue as many animals as possible, but needs help with its growing needs during this very busy time. The organization is constantly searching for volunteers and foster homes, and will be hosting an adoption drive at its Safe Have location (5060 74th Ave. S.E.) on Saturday, Oct. 19, where Calgarians can find details about volunteering, fostering or even becoming an animal’s second chance.
Spot Dog Walking is on a mission to make dog ownership easier with its on-demand dog walking app. Spot’s goal is to provide convenience to dog owners by saving time and reducing stress, and is hopeful this will result in more adoptions so pups of all ages can find their furever home!
“We’re really excited to work with AARCS, not only to let people know about the amazing things that they do, but also bring a little bit of joy to people in the middle of the work day,” says John Minchin, chief executive officer at Spot.
Spot operates in several cities across Canada and donates to local animal rescues and shelters 10 cents for every 10 minutes walked. To date, Spot has completed more than 50,000 walks and has donated more than $10,000 to organizations such as AARCS, the Calgary Humane Society and Pawsitive Match.
Spot is Calgary’s only on-demand dog walking company and provides an all in one solution for dog owners. The company guarantees walker arrival in less than 90 minutes or the walk is free. Spot walks are all private, on-leash and door-to-door to ensure dogs always receive one-on-one attention and never have to step their paws into a vehicle. The company also provides GPS walk tracking and reporting, which allows dog owners to verify the length and distance of a walk … and whether their dog did their business!
Spot dog walkers complete a criminal background check and receive ratings and review comments from previous walks. Every Spot walk comes with premium insurance that covers each dog for up to $30,000 and the owner’s home and property for up to $5 million.
Spot Dog Walking is available for download on Apple and Android devices, and welcomes new users with a free walk upon registration.
